​Eclipse Season & the Retrogrades We Are All Living Through

Let's call it for what it is: life is challenging all of us, and you're not sure why. You feel the intensity not only in yourself but in everyone around you.
This time we are in isn't familiar to any living being. Nature might know it, but we do not. It even has us questioning ourselves and the world, like watching a movie and waiting for all the pieces to fall into place because right now, none of it is making sense. This time is bringing such intense energy that it's uncomfortable for our elders, and for those carrying some mental struggles too. It's not negative. It is pushing us through a veil, merging our ego world with the spiritual blend world. We are being challenged to acknowledge what we've been using as armor, and instead use our soul's superpowers. Sounds very Avengers, but it's actually more Bewitched.

What is happening

August 12th, Solar Eclipse in the sign of Leo.
August 28th, Partial Lunar Eclipse in Pisces.

And already holding underneath all of it, we have three retrogrades running at once: Pluto retrograde in Aquarius (May 6–October 15), Neptune retrograde in Aries (July 7–December 12), and Saturn retrograde in Aries (July 26–December 10).

As an energy interpreter, I can feel all of this happening, and it is not a small stack of energy. That is the sky asking every single one of us the same question in different languages: who are you becoming, and are you going to choose it, or is it going to happen to you?

Understanding the Eclipse

Let me try to break this complex information down, because once you understand the pieces, the intuitive hit lands so much deeper.
An eclipse is not a regular New Moon or Full Moon. It only happens when the Sun, Moon, and Earth line up almost exactly with the lunar nodes. That precise alignment is rare, so instead of a gentle monthly reset, you get a compressed timeline. Months of movement arrive in weeks, sometimes in a single day. That is why this has felt like the ground shifting instead of a normal cycle. You are not imagining it. Your nervous system is picking up on something real before your mind can name it. Eclipses speed up our evolution. They tend to bring the fated meeting, the ending you did not see coming, the door that opens out of nowhere, all of it pushing us closer to the path our soul actually wants, whether we asked for that or not. The key is to look for the signs and let them help you move forward into your soul's calling.

Your Nodes: The Organ You Didn't Know Was Working
Before we go further, it helps to understand the nodes themselves, because you're going to hear that phrase a lot this eclipse season. Think of your nodes like an organ you've never had to think about. It's just been quietly running in the background your whole life, doing its job whether you knew it existed or not.

Every birth chart has two of these points, sitting exactly opposite each other: the South Node and the North Node. Together they tell you the direction your soul is trying to move.

The South Node is what's familiar, and for a lot of my clients, it runs deeper than just this lifetime. It's often ancestral, patterns and coping mechanisms handed down before you ever had a say in them. Under stress, this is where you default, because it's what you already know how to do. There's real wisdom in it too. These are natural talents you walked in with. But there's a trap. Leaning on these patterns too hard, especially the inherited ones, keeps you looping instead of growing. It can have you carrying something that was never even yours to carry, just because it's familiar.

The North Node is the stretch. It's where you're being called to grow, and it usually feels a little unfamiliar, maybe even uncomfortable at first. That discomfort isn't a sign something's wrong. It just means you're growing somewhere new. It's your destiny magnet, pulling you into your purpose.
You don't have to leave your South Node behind. You bring those gifts with you, you just don't let them be the only place you ever stand. Once you know your own nodes, eclipses make a lot more sense. You can feel exactly what's being asked to fall away, and what's trying to come forward. If you don't know them, trust your inner guidance about what isn't serving you any longer on your expansion.

The Solar Eclipse in Leo

This particular Solar Eclipse matters even more than usual, because it is the first eclipse to land in Leo since 2019, and it is sitting right on the South Node. That combination is not asking you to perform your way through August. It is asking you to stop performing altogether. The South Node in Leo has a way of exposing anything you have been doing for applause, for approval, for the safety of being liked, and it is going to feel uncomfortable to release, because ego always fights to keep its stage. But underneath the performance is your True Self, the part of you that does not need an audience to know it is real. This eclipse is handing you the invitation to lead from that place instead.

The Lunar Eclipse in Pisces

Sixteen days later the Lunar Eclipse falls in Pisces, and Pisces, being water, dissolves. It softens the walls you built to protect yourself and asks you to trust what you cannot yet prove. Eclipses are not one day events either. They plant a seed now, and the energy of change ripples across the next six months, with the harvest showing up almost two years later. So what you choose or ignore in these weeks becomes a doorway, not a footnote.

The Retrogrades We're Holding

Now let's layer the retrogrades on top of that, because this is where it stops being personal and becomes global collective.

Pluto retrograde in Aquarius, May 6 through October 15, is the planet of death and rebirth moving through the sign of collective systems and the future. This is global. It is turning the mirror on where power has been misused and where the old structures have simply outlived themselves. What looks like collapse right now is not the end, it is composting. Something has to break down before the soil can hold something true again.

Neptune retrograde in Aries, July 7 through December 12, is stripping the fog off identity, and yet we've been feeling the fog brain along with it. Neptune is illusion and spirit, Aries is raw and self led, and together they are asking where you have been living someone else's version of who you are supposed to be, and where spiritual bypassing has kept you from doing the actual work. Being what others want you to be isn't your authenticity, it's a mask, and it's holding you back.

Saturn retrograde in Aries, July 26 through December 10, is forcing a reckoning with old definitions of strength. Saturn reminds me of the strict father. It is structure and consequence, and in Aries it is showing you exactly where your foundation was never as solid as you thought. Not to punish you. To show you where to rebuild for real this time.

Chiron: The Wounded Healer

And now Chiron joins them. Understanding Chiron helps explain why you might feel so sensitive right now. It moved into Taurus, an earth sign, on June 19, its first time there since the 1970s (a decade that carried major cultural shifts: the women's liberation movement, growing environmental awareness, the gay rights movement, the unraveling of the Watergate scandal, and the end of the Vietnam War). It is already asking us to look at our wounds around worth, security, and whether we believe we have to earn rest before we're allowed to receive it. On August 3, Chiron stationed retrograde while still in early Taurus, and on September 17 it will retrograde back across the line into Aries, a fire sign, the sign it has been healing us through since 2018. Chiron is known as the wounded healer for a reason. It does not create the wound, it reveals it, usually around abandonment, around feeling unloved, discarded, not enough. This retrograde is not punishment either. It is Chiron slowing down long enough to make sure the lesson actually lands before it hands you the next chapter. Chiron will not station direct until January 6, 2027, so this is a season, not a single day, giving all of us one more pass through the identity work Aries has been asking of us for eight years. When Chiron finally settles into Taurus for good next spring, we get to walk with the understanding and wisdom of the old wound instead of carrying it as a landmine of pain. Aries, fire, is transmuting that energy into Taurus, earth, fertile soil for our future.

Bringing It All Together

Here is how all these moving parts fit together. An eclipse asking you to drop the performance, three outer planets retrograde in the collective, and the wounded healer circling back through territory we thought we had already closed, all in the same season, is not a coincidence. Your world is being changed, and the collective world along with it. Everyone is on their own personal ride through this right now, being carried into a new version of themselves, one that lets us connect more deeply and spiritually with the unseen. It is the sky holding up a mirror to every outdated system we are living inside, personally and collectively, whether that is a relationship pattern, a belief about money, an old definition of power, or the actual structures of the world around us. We are watching the scaffolding come down in real time. That is uncomfortable, and it is also exactly what has to happen before a new era can hold any real weight.

How to Move Through It

What you choose to do with all of this is up to you, but here is what I suggest. Use the eclipse window to set your intention, not to force an outcome. Direct what you want to call in, and then hold it with an open hand, because when we grip too tight, we block the very flow that is trying to bring it to us. Give God room to move. Since this eclipse falls in Leo, expect your heart to be more open than usual. Let it be. Move from feeling instead of staying stuck in your head trying to figure everything out. And pay attention not just to what happens on eclipse day, but to what unfolds across the whole month. These are karmic events bringing balance. When the Pisces eclipse arrives on the 28th, you may feel more sensitive, more porous, more tuned in to the energy around you than usual. Spend time near water if you can, take lots of baths and showers to help move you through this energy. Let yourself create. Be gentle with yourself in a way you would not think twice about offering someone else.

Energy does not sit still. It moves whether you direct it or not. If you do not decide where your own growth is going, your circumstances will decide it for you, and that almost always looks like something falling apart before you understand why. So here is the big key to all of this: instead of asking what is happening to me, ask what am I ready to build. Feel where it lands in your body. Come back to it daily, or as often as you can, through this eclipse wave, not just once. Review your intention sheet often. Six months from now you will be standing at the beginning of a great harvest of what you planted right now, whether you planted it on purpose or not.

Choose. Direct the energy, because the sky is not waiting for permission, and neither is your life.
