Slow Down, Look Inward: What This Fall's Retrogrades Are Asking of You

What to Expect Energetically Through December
This year has been an interesting rollercoaster. If you're still hanging in there, then you are doing great!

What's happening until the end of the year — this is to help you navigate the busy holiday season upon us.


What we are already experiencing

On September 10th, Uranus went retrograde in Gemini, and it'll stay that way until February 8th. Uranus is the planet of sudden change and independence — the innovator and pattern-breaker who pushes past the norm, asking us to move forward, and it likes to shake things loose. Gemini rules communication, ideas, and the way we process and share information. This is a cocktail mixed together in retrograde — that shake-it-up energy turns inward, asking us to slow down and really look at how we think, what we believe, and whether we're speaking our real truth or just saying what's expected of us, masking to meet other people's needs. If the last few months have felt mentally loud, overstimulating, or hard to settle, this is that energy asking you to pause and get honest with yourself.

Then on October 3rd, Venus goes retrograde too. Venus rules love, beauty, money, and what we value, so this transit invites us to slow down and really look at our relationships, our spending, and our sense of self-worth. It moves through Scorpio first, stirring up deep, honest questions about trust and connection — and yes, then shifts into Libra, softening into themes of balance and fairness.

Here's the part worth circling on your calendar: starting October 24th, Mercury also goes retrograde — yep, he's back~ — right alongside Venus, for about three weeks. That's a rarer overlap. Mercury brings the usual communication mix-ups, technology hiccups, and travel delays, while Venus works on our hearts and our wallets at the same time. It can create challenges in communication, relationships/partnerships, and friendships, and it can bring healing or release. It reveals areas or things in a relationship that need to change. It can also be a time of relationship status changes — you might see single move to relationship, or relationship move to single. Along with businesses, this can mean others branching out into their own company, parting from another, or co-creating a business. Both go direct on the same day, November 13th, so mid-November is when things really start to settle.

A practical note for the holidays: Venus retrograde has a reputation for financial delays — your personal value: are you getting compensated for what you do? It also makes us want to spend on luxury, so it's time to keep an eye on your budget — that designer bag or expensive holiday gift may feel irresistible right now, only to lose its shine once Venus goes direct. Venus affects our money too. If you're holiday shopping for something significant, it's worth waiting until after November 13th if you can.


📅 Dates to Know

Uranus retrograde in Gemini — began September 10 (continues through February 8, 2027)

Venus retrograde — October 3 to November 13 (Scorpio, then Libra)

Mercury retrograde — October 24 to November 13 (overlapping with Venus, in Scorpio)

Pluto turns direct — October 15
Neptune turns direct — December 12


Good news is, NO MORE eclipses this year, until February 6, 2027 — New Moon Solar Eclipse — and February 20–21, 2027 — Full Moon Lunar Eclipse — so this stretch is really about review, reflection, and recalibration, getting things cleaned up, projects in the hopper waiting to be created or finished, rather than big sudden shifts, its tending the garden seeds from the August eclipse. Embrace each day’s experiences; don’t get caught up in your mind chatter and stories, if you are doing your inner work and monitoring your progress, the outcome will bring results in 2027
